Singapore is often praised for its seamless blend of tradition and innovation, and when it comes to family travel, it’s hard to beat. On our 2-day family trip to Singapore, we explored some of the city’s top attractions — from the lush Gardens by the Bay to the luxury shopping on Orchard Road. But there’s one more stop that truly impressed us, even before we entered the city itself: Changi Airport. Known as one of the best airports in the world, Changi offers a fantastic experience for families, and it became a key highlight of our journey.

Our Singapore adventure began the moment we stepped off the plane at Changi Airport, which is renowned for its world-class facilities and exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special.

Changi Airport isn’t just a transit hub; it’s a destination in itself. We started our adventure at Jewel, the airport’s stunning mixed-use complex that houses everything from gardens to shops and restaurants. The centerpiece of Jewel is the HSBC Rain Vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, which stands at a staggering 40 meters. We also took a moment to indulge in some delicious treats at one of the many cafes and food stalls, setting the tone for a great start to our trip.

Immigration at the airport was a breeze and we headed straight to our hotel, Holiday Inn, Little India. The reason we picked Little India for our stay is because its not just a vibrant and culturally rich neighborhood but also because its a paradise for food lovers, offering a wide array of dishes from Indian and other South Asian cuisines.

Even though it was peak summer and we were expecting a hot and humid weather, we were pleasantly surprised by the occasional showers and the moderate weather during our trip. After freshening up and a sumptuous lunch, we were all charged up to explore the city.

Our first stop for the day was Gardens by the Bay, one of Singapore’s most iconic attractions. This futuristic park, located near Marina Bay, is a stunning blend of natural beauty and modern design. We started with the Cloud Forest, an indoor rainforest with a towering waterfall, which wowed both adults and children. The cool mist and lush vegetation made it feel like we had been transported to another world.

Our kids were particularly enchanted by the massive, tree-like Supertrees that dominate the landscape. As evening approached, we headed back to the Grove to witness the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show. The towering Supertrees, illuminated in dazzling colors, combined with the music, left us all in awe. It was a magical experience, the perfect way to cap off an exciting day of exploration.

The next day, we decided to indulge in the local Singaporean delicacies at the historic hawker centers and tried the famous satay (grilled meat skewers), char kway teow (stir-fried noodles), and laksa (spicy noodle soup) all of which delighted our taste buds.

In the afternoon, we explored Orchard Road, Singapore’s world-famous shopping street. From the sleek and modern malls like ION Orchard to the more boutique experiences in smaller shopping complexes, Orchard Road offered something for everyone. The kids enjoyed checking out the toy stores and interactive digital displays, while we browsed through the latest collections from luxury designers. It’s a great place to shop, whether you’re looking for high-end brands or unique local finds.

On our last evening in Singapore, we ventured to Marina Bay and the Merlion, Singapore’s Iconic Waterfront. The bay is also a popular spot for leisure, with scenic promenades, outdoor dining, and spectacular views of the city. One of the most recognized symbols of Singapore is the Merlion, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Positioned at the water’s edge near Merlion Park, this statue spouts water from its mouth, creating a striking image against the backdrop of Marina Bay Sands and the surrounding skyline.
